Homemakers Have Anxiety and Stress Too
Many people who think of those that have stress are in high stress jobs. This is true, but we all forget that the homemaker has a high stressed job also whether they are male or female. I am a male homemaker and it is incredibly demanding. It is wake up, make coffee, put the cats out, get my daughter up and ready for school. All that before 8 a.m.. Just trying to get that done so we can get out the door to her school on time is already quite stressful. By this time I am exhibiting signs of stress.
Usually on the way back home I run all the errands I can do. Some days it is short, some days it takes longer. When I get home, it is feed my boy and get him changed. He doesn’t go to school since he is younger than my girl. During that time I try to keep him occupied or get him playing with toys so I can watch the stock market news and do everything I need to do on the computer. You know the drill; emails, bills, news, etc. When lunch nears, we run out the door to pick up my daughter from her school. Sometime we leave earlier if I have additional errands to run.
When we get back, its lunch for everyone. Then I prepare to work on my house projects or online projects if the weather is bad. Children at such a young age are always asking for this and that. They need to be helped by dad. The afternoon flies by into the supper hour. After that its a few hours of fun stuff and homework. Then prep for bedtime and hopefully being asleep by 9. At this time I will need to definitely apply my relaxation techniques for anxiety. If I don’t then I will be cranky as ever.
